Olinda Cho.

Walking into Music Warehouse, I spotted Olinda Cho's new release. The fonts and layout reminded me of KT Tunstall's cd artwork. In a way they Are rather similar when you think about it.

But whoa, i was wrong about the singing. I'd imagined it was something more fanciful, more dressed-up, and well, in short, the sgidol-sorta-singing. Not bad, but well, lacking heart. Read my lips, I was wrong. Olinda's terrific! And the choice of songs, were both nostalgic and enlightening, it was a nice mix, and it was soothing but with depth. I fell in love with her voice on Track 9, Hopelessly Devoted To You. But was wowed by the arrangements from Track 3, 4, 6, 8. Being a huge fan of soul, funk and jazz, all that being put together, makes pop really rock, ironic as it sounds. :)

Please do check out her cd "Rewind".

It's such a pleasant surprise on an ordinary Friday. TGIF!
