We love this new CD by a well-reputed Malaysian Band who's played for many foreign artistes, such as 江美琪, 宇恒 Serene Chiam, the masked beauty who'd recently revealed her lovely face to the public in launch of her new album.
乌风玲 comprises of 4 band members, Jerry Soon on the Drums, Sam on Guitar, Chuan on bass and last but not least, Bot on Vox. The 4 talented free spirits have combined their efforts on their debut album, named after their band name, and have launchedthis much-awaited album recently in October 2007 in Malaysia.
We popped the cd into our trusty imac eagerly, though half-suspicious of what heavy metal frequencies that would hit us off our old-school mindchairs. But lo and behold, sweet wahs and plucking of the electric, with gentle distortions and overall rather clean tones seeped into the RM atmosphere. Well done, boys!
Though we were a lil' lulled by the sweet but raw guitar sounds, the lead vocalist, Bot's voice, resembling Eason Chan's thick masculine croonings, definitely perked us up into a subliminal and yet resolute kind of energy. The grunge sounds still leaned a lil' more to Pop for their melodious compositions.
We were especially impressed by 风铃(track 1), as drummer Jerry tricked us into a crazy off-beat sorta frenzy as he has fun with the guitar and bass that goes on a faithful 4/4 downbeat.
